The legal field of company law regulates the formation, trading and dissolution of companies. There is no uniform law for companies, but is made up of many standards and laws. The main focus is on corporations and partnerships, the basic form of which is the civil law partnership (Gesellschaft bürgerlichen Rechts – GbR), which is regulated in Sections 705 et seq. BGB (German Civil Code). The basic form of corporations, on the other hand, is the association regulated in §§ 21 ff. BGB (German Civil Code). This also includes the corporations Aktiengesellschaft (AG), Kommanditgesellschaft auf Aktien (KGaA) and Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH) as well as the registered cooperative (e.G.).
